Brazil central back Thiago Silva has signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him at Paris Saint-Germain until 2018. The 28-year-old Brazilian, who joined theQatari-backed club from AC Milan last year for a $56.18 million transfer fee, had been linked with clubs including Barcelona and has expressed his desire to return to Italy “at some point.”

“Weare very proud to extend the contract of Thiago Silva, an outstanding player on and off the field. He’s the symbol of Paris St. Germain’s will to build one of the best European teams on the longterm,” PSG president Nasser al Khelaifi said in a statement.
