[STANFORD-ARIZONA: Women] Taylor Uhl scored with eight seconds left in the first overtime to give No. 2 Stanford a 2-1victory over Arizona in the Cardinal’s Pac-12 home opener Friday. The win extended its home unbeaten streak to 73 and its conference winning streak to 44.
 
The goal was the10th of the season for Uhl, a junior transfer from Minnesota. Left outside back Laura Liedle played a long ball from midfield that found Uhl at the top of thepenalty area. Uhl touched the ball to her right and fired a hard left-footed shot inside the right post in the 100th minute.
 
“Taylor has an incredible ability to slow the playdown,” Stanford coach Paul Ratcliffe said. “A lot of people would rush that shot, but Taylor always shows great composure and was rewarded with thegoal.”
 
The golden goal was Stanford third of the season, following second-overtime winners by Uhl against Boston College (a 2-1 victory) and Courtney Verloo against Santa Clara (3-2).
 
Stanford was outshot 9-1 in the first half but went ahead on Megan Turner‘spoint-blank header. Arizona tied the game in the 78th minute when it intercepted a Stanford back pass, leading to a shot by Alexandra Doller that bounced offthe post to Emily Lai, who scored the rebound to tie the score.
