[UCLA-WASHINGTON STATE: Women] Fourth-ranked UCLA got second-half goals from sophomore Courtney Proctor (her firstcollegiate goal) and freshman Darian Jenkins (her eighth of the season) to beat Washington State, 2-0, and hand the Cougars their first loss of the season onFriday afternoon.

After a fairly even first half, the Bruins took control in the second half. In the 59th minute, Gabbi Miranda‘s corner kickbounced past Canadian goalie Gurveen Clair to Proctor, who controlled the ball and then slotted it far post.

UCLA struck again just fiveminutes later when Sarah Killion sent a through ball to a speeding Caprice Dydasco down the left side, where she hitJenkins with a cross into the box that the freshman calmly one-timed past Clair for her team-leading eighth goal of the year.

“They played us really well defensively in the firsthalf,” said UCLA coach Amanda Cromwell. “They were smart about what they were doing, and we couldn’t quite figure it out, but we made some adjustments athalftime and came out and played a much better second half.”
