Diego Costa has officially chosen to play for Spain, according to reports in the country. AS initially reported that the Atletico Madrid striker has signed a notarizedletter stating his intention to play for his adopted country that will be sent to the Brazilian soccer federation (CBF) on Tuesday afternoon. In the letter, Costa rejects Luiz FelipeScolari’s call-up to play for Brazil in the upcoming November friendlies, staying true to his word to Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque, given on Oct. 3, the date he wasgranted Spanish citizenship.

However, the AS report also claims the CBF is likely to go on the offensive once it receives Costa’s letter, as President Jose MariaMarin has promised to take the case to FIFA. Nevertheless, AS says the Spanish soccer federation (RFEF) is certain the rules are on its side.
