[NJCAA: Milestone] Mike Pantalione became the all-time NJCAA men’s coaching leader in wins as Yavapai College captured theNJCAA district championship with a 3-0 victory over Otero Junior College on Saturday.

Pantalione, Yavapai’s only head coach, has a 535-45-22 record in 25 years with the Roughriders.He overtook former Ulster County Community College coach George Vizvary, who posted a 534-163-28 mark in 37 seasons.

The win advanced YavapaiCollege to the NJCAA national tournament for the 20th time since 1990, the most appearance by any JUCO Division I program. The Arizona school has captured seven national championships and was thenational runner-up six times.

This year’s NJCAA National Tournament will take place in Tyler, Texas, beginning Nov. 18.
