Borussia Moenchengladbach on Monday said it will sign U.S. international Fabian Johnson on a free transfer from Hoffenheim during the next transfer window, which opens on July 1st.The U.S. international, 26, who joined Hoffenheim from Wolfsburg in 2011, has signed a contract with Moenchengladbach until 2018.

“Fabian Johnson is a very interesting player, moreoverhe is a free agent, who can play at left-back and at left-midfield. We are delighted that he has opted to play for us,” Moenchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl announced onthe club’s official Web site. Johnson has made 91 appearances in the German Bundesliga, scoring six goals and assisting 12. He has won 18 caps for the U.S. national team and is expected to makeits 2014 World Cup squad.
