The controversial Amazonia Arena in Manaus, the World Cup stadium that will play host to the USA-Portugal match as well as England’s opener against Italy, is already undergoing emergencyrepairs, the Guardian reports, due to seriously undernourished grass as a result of excessive use of fertilizer as well as the region’s high temperatures and humid conditions. The reportclaims that though the stadium is near completion, the field faces a race against time to be at a high enough standard before the England-Italy opener on June 14.
