[MLS EXPANSION] Orlando City began its rebranding process by unveiling its new logo that it will use when it moves from USL PRO to MLS in 2015.

The logo incorporates prominent Floridian aspects, featuring the sun, color purple -- a highly recognizable feature for Orlando City since its launch in 2011 -- and a single lion.

The Lions have been Orlando City's nickname, and the single lion was retained to reflect Orlando City’s successful tenure in USL PRO (two titles in three years).

The 21 sun flares bordering the Lion signify the club's status as MLS's 21st club.

Orlando City was required by MLS to change its logo and brand, and the designer of the logo was chosen from four Orlando agencies.

Orlando City is kicking off a #PaintTheCityPurple art campaign. Local artists will create paintings on the walls of local businesses. On Thursday, orlando City will conclude the event with an art exhibit at Snap Orlando.
