[WORLD CUP 2014] Only eight members of the Dutch team that reached the 2010 World Cup final have been named to the provisional squad of 30 for the 2014 competition.

Right back Gregory Van der Wiel is a notable omission. Head coach Louis Van Gaal has elected not to take a chance on a player who has been suffering from tendinitis. Goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg and defenders John Heitinga and Joris Mathijsen are also missing but Wesley Sneijder has survived the initial cut, though he too has been dogged by fitness questions.

World Cup 2014 Squads:
Group A: Brazil (23) | Cameroon (28) | Croatia | Mexico (23)
Group B: Australia | Chile (30) | Netherlands (30) | Spain (30)
Group C:
Colombia (30) | Greece | Ivory Coast (28) | Japan (23)
Group D
: Costa Rica (26) | England (23) | Italy (30) | Uruguay (25)
Group E:
Ecuador | France (23) | Honduras (23) | Switzerland (23)

Group G: Germany (30) | Ghana (26) | Portugal (30) | USA (30)
Group H: Algeria (30) | Belgium (24) | Russia (30) | South Korea (23)

The Netherlands plays Ecuador on Wednesday before the FIFA-imposed break on warmup matches. It later plays Ghana and Wales at home before heading to Brazil, where it faces Spain, Chile and Australia in Group B.
