[WORLD CUP: Off the Post] A weak link in Brazil's first two games, center forward Fred finally scored in Brazil's 4-1 win over Cameroon, a strike that came thanks ... "As incredible as it seems, the ball came in hard and it ended up hitting my mustache," said Fred, whose new look also prompted a Google search surge for Freddy Mercury and high jinx on his Wikipedia page.

Apparently, Neymar told Fred to regrow the mustache: "I said, 'Come on, Fred, if you leave the mustache you are going to score, the mustache never fails."

When some suggested Fred now looked much like the now deceased front man of rock group Queen, Brazilians hit the net looking up Mercury, according to Google stats. Someone also edited Fred's Wikipedia page, dedicating it to "porn-star mustache."
