[NORTH CAROLINA-UCLA: Men] German Leo Stolz, widely regarded as the top player in the men’s ranks, scored the lone goal togive No. 1 UCLA a 1-0 win at No. 10 North Carolina before 3,939 fans on Sunday evening.

UCLA, which had defeated No. 16 Wake Forest, 3-1, on Friday in Winston Salem, took the lead in the31st minute when Stolz scored his 16th goal of his career with a shot off the left post.

“We had a mature performance tonight,” UCLA head coach JorgeSalcedo said. “The trip to North Carolina has helped us reveal where we are as a group. Three consecutive halves of shutouts and four goals on the road is a solid platform to build upon duringthe early phase while we continue to evolve our style of play.”

Senior keeper Earl Edwards notched his 12th of his career.

UCLA willbe back on the road this week with a pair of games at New Mexico’s Lobo Invitational against American on Friday and New Mexico on Sunday.
