[LISBON INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT] Marco Delgado (Chivas USA) and Amando Moreno(New York Red Bulls), who have both played in MLS this season, are among the players called up for the U.S. under-18 national team’s annual trip to the Lisbon International Tournament.

A third MLS player, Kellyn Acosta (FC Dallas), was a late scratch.

Three players from the U.S. under-17 national team earned call-ups:captain Shaquille Moore, John Requejo and its top forward, Rubio Rubin.

The USA opens play on Tuesday against the Czech Republic. It will then face Portugal May 23 and Hungary May 25.

Defenders: Jordan Allen (Empire Revolution),Trevor Haberkorn (Chelsea Solar), Shaquille Moore (U-17 residency), Jalen Markey (Seattle Sounders FC Academy), Matthew Miazga (New York Red Bulls Academy), John Requejo (U-17 residency).
Midfielders: Russell Canouse (Hoffenheim/GER), Marco Delgado (Chivas USA), Jacori Hayes (Baltimore Bays Chelsea), Romain Gall (Lorient/FRA), Omar Thompson(Wigan/ENG), Brian Iloski (LA Galaxy Academy).
Forwards: Rubio Rubin (U-17 residency), Amando Moreno (New York Red Bulls), Benji Lopez (Real Salt LakeAZ), Paul Arriola (Tijuana/MEX), Piakai Henkel (Amiens/FRA), Kosta Koukladas (Rot- Weiss Essen/GER).

  1. 3 returning players from U17 Concacaf Qualifiers. That should eliminate the argument that it’s ok to have a bad game or 2 for these kids. Is it just me or does anyone else notice that many players that get signed with Mexico or Euro teams rapidly get called in to National teams?? Like Paul Arriola.

  2. If this is true then that only means our scouting system is not doing it’s job. They are picking obvious choices based on club team scouts selections.
