Carli Lloyd, whose stunning hat trick led the USA to the Women’s World Cup title with a 5-2 win over Japan in the final, was named the winner of the adidasGolden Ball as the top player but was edged out by Germany’s Celia Sasic for the adidas Golden Boot on a tiebreaker. The USA’s Hope Solo won the adidas Golden Glove as the tournament’s top keeper, while Canada’s Kadeisha Buchanan out of West Virginia University won theHyundai Best Young Player award.
