Dettmar Cramer, one of the great names of German coaching, died on Thursday at the age of 90. In the United States, he is best known as the founder of the U.S. Soccer coaching school but he alsobriefly coached the U.S. national team in 1974, leading it in a two-game friendly series with Mexico. He left suddenly in early 1975 when he was appointed head coach at Bayern Munich, which he led totwo European Cup titles.
