MLS suspended New England Revolution midfielder Jermaine Jones for the six games of the 2016 regular season and fined him an undisclosed amount for referee assault. Thesuspension would rule Jones, out of contract with the Revs, out of the USA’s two March World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Guatemala if he remains in MLS.
