Pele, the star on three Brazil World Cup championship teams, declined the honor of lighting the Rio Olympics flame in Friday night’s Opening Ceremony, saying he wasn’t physically able toattend the opening. Pele had said Wednesday on Brazilian television that he had been invited by IOC President Thomas Bach to do light the flame at the Maracana Stadium.
