“I don't think you ever expect to be with the national team. I think you hope for it. You've got to earn a call-up. And so, I hope to earn a call-up in the future, but it didn't happen for me this time.”

-- Sporting Kansas City midfielder Benny Feilhaber, who scored a spectacular goal against San Jose in a 2-1 victory a few days after being excluded by U.S. head coach Bruce Arena for Hexagonal matches against Honduras and Panama. (MLSSoccer.com)

Benny, I applaud your statement and also feel bad as a fellow footballer that our USMNT hasn't progressed in style and substance that would have you as our 10 and Captain the last few years. We have never met and I pre-date Ramos, Reyna, et al, and its unfortunate that you are ahead of your time in the current US soccer paradigmn. Ironically, you are more suited to the game and many of the players back in the NASL days. As an example, Pirlo would not have been included in our narrow-unsophisticated view of the sport as its interpreted today. Don't hold your breath with Arena. Good luck on your season.
