Stanford remained No. 1 in the Soccer America Women's College 25 rankings. There was no change in the top five as West Virginia, Penn State, UCLA and Florida State followed at 2-3-4-5. For the complete Top 25.

Week 1's big results:
Georgetown 0 West Virginia 1.
All-American Michaela Abam's goal was the difference as the Mountaineers gained revenge for their only loss during th 2016 regular season.

North Carolina 2
Duke 1. Jessie Scarpa's golden goal earned the win for the Tar Heels in the match played in Cary.

California 2 Santa Clara 1.
Abigail Kim's goal in the 80th minute complete the Bears' comeback from 1-0 down.
