4. INTERNATIONAL: UP stars called up for Mexico game

Two Portland stars have been named to the U.S. women's national team squad for Wednesday's match against Mexico in Rochester, N.Y. (TV: ESPN2, 8 pm ET).

Sophomore Megan Rapinoe replaced North Carolina forward Heather O’Reilly, who suffered a minor ankle injury when Portland and UNC played on Sunday. Rapinoe joins UP junior Stephanie Lopez as the only two collegians on the 18-player roster. Lopez made her first appearance of the 2006 season in the match against UNC. She just returned from the Under-20 Women's World Championship, where she captained the USA.

Taking time away from her coaching duties is Northern Illinois head coach Marci Miller, who was one of five midfielders called in by U.S. national team coach Greg Ryan.

Mexico coach Leo Cuellar called up University of Pacific senior Carmen Padilla for the Rochester game. Padilla's Tigers are unbeaten in six games to start the season.

Missing from the Mexico squad is 14-year-old Charlyn Corral. The international sensation was called up for the USA-Mexico game but is preparing to move to Indiana, where she plans on enrolling in school to learn English.
