MLS Summaries (May 30): Miami rolls on, Balboa sets mark

Captain Jim Rooney netted his third consecutive game-winning goal to lead Miami to its fourth straight win, a 2-1 victory over D.C. United at Lockhart Stadium. Miami, which extended its lead atop the Eastern Division, has the most wins (8) and most points (25) in MLS. In Chicago Luis Hernandez scored his first two goals of the season as Los Angeles rallied to knock off the Fire 4-3 at Soldier Field. The Galaxy extinguished the Fire's unbeaten streak at 15 games, one short of a new MLS record. Colorado used a late John Spencer goal to take a 1-1 draw away from Spartan Stadium against San Jose. Spencer's 77th minute rocket evened the score and sent the game to overtime, while also allowing defender Marcelo Balboa to make MLS history as he became the first MLS defender to amass 20 goals and 20 assists.
