After pining all summer for a move to Real Madrid from Arsenal, Jose Antonio Reyes repaid management's faith with a fantastic individual performance for an otherwise flat Real Madrid team against Real
Sociedad yesterday. "I couldn't have asked for more," the 23-year old winger said Monday. "I made my debut at the Bernabeu, I scored a goal and the team won the game. It was one of the happiest days
of my life." Reyes started the game on the right side at the expense of David Beckham. His curling free kick in the 69th minute proved to be the game-winner in the 2-0 victory. Beckham later sealed
the victory with a breakway goal deep into stoppage time after 10-man Sociedad had thrown everything it had forward. Reyes admitted Real's performance was far from excellent: "Any team that comes to
the Bernabeu thinks a draw is a good result and that makes it very difficult. But we have to look at the positive side of the game. We won and the team showed character." Real is now fourth in La Liga
after three games, two points behind joint leaders Barcelona, Sevilla, and Valencia.
