UCLA sophomore
Maxwell Griffin, who led the Bruins to big victories over a pair of Top 10 teams last
weekend, is the Soccer America Men's Player of the Week.
In a 2-1 victory over then-No. 9 Santa Clara on Friday, Griffin broke a scoreless tie with a goal in the 67th minute, and just 19
seconds later, assisted on teammate
Jason Leopoldo's goal that put the Bruins up 2-0.
Griffin, who celebrated his 19th birthday on Sunday, also
scored first for UCLA in a 2-0 win over then-No. 8 San Francisco, striking in the 17th minute after receiving a pass from
Chance Myers and dribbling between
two defenders to take the shot.
Griffin has tallied five goals and 11 points in just seven games, already surpassing his total from last season.
