Giants Cup: Club America beats D.C. United, 2-0, in final

Club America got two second-half goals to beat MLS club D.C. United, 2-0, in the final of the inaugural Giants Cup in Los Angeles. CONCACAF's invitational tournament was a bust at the gate, drawing less than 5,000 for each of four dates at the Coliseum. Club America and D.C. United gained entry in what's being called the 2003 FC Clubs Cup, a qualifying tournament featuring eight teams from the 2001 and 2002 CONCACAF Champions Cup and Giants Cup for the scheduled 2003 Club World Championship.
