Beginning in the 2007 season and through 2014, Spanish-language Univision networks will broadcast 25 MLS games per season.
MLS had games on Univision in 1996-98 and Univision rival
Telemundo the following three years, but the league had no national media reach in the important Hispanic community since.
Under the agreement with Soccer United Marketing (SUM), MLS
and U.S. national teams games will be televised on all three of Univision's networks: Univision, Telefutura and Galavision.
"Univision, as the No. 1 television network for U.S. Hispanic
soccer fans, believes that the future of the sport in this country depends on Hispanic America embracing it at its highest levels here, and we are proud to showcase MLS and the U.S. national
team as we collectively realize that new future," said David Downs
, President of Univision Sports. THE UNIVISION-SUM AGREEMENT INCLUDES: *
