1. Wisconsin hands UIC first loss of season

No. 9 UIC, the sensation of the men's college season, fell from the unbeaten ranks when it lost at Wisconsin, 1-0, on Thursday night.

Eric Conklin scored the game's only goal for the Badgers on a header off a free kick taken by Zack Lambo in the 19th minute.

"Teams are up for us," said UIC coach John Trask. "When you're up there ranked, it's a whole new ballgame."

The Flames, who wrapped up a six-game road swing, dropped to 7-1-2.

UIC's loss left only five unbeaten teams in the NCAA Division I men's ranks: No. 1. SMU (10-0-1), No. 2. Clemson (8-0-1), No. 4. Washington (8-0-0), 24. Fordham (5-0-2) and unranked Colgate (6-0-2).
