Turner Network Television (TNT) and CNN/Sports Illustrated will combine to televise 22 WUSA games this year, including two semi-final games and the WUSA championship game. TNT will kick off the
season on April 14 with the WUSA's inaugural game (Washington Freedom vs. Bay Area CyberRays) and will air a total of 11 games, including the final, while CNN/Sports Illustrated will televise 11
regular season games. This is the first of a four-year, exclusive national cable television agreement between the WUSA, TNT and CNN/Sports Illustrated. Turner Sports President Mark Lazarus and WUSA
Chief of Television and Marketing Lee Berke announced the WUSA television schedule today. "Our partnership with the WUSA will enable us to bring professional women's soccer to millions of fans
nationally on TNT and CNN/Sports Illustrated, and locally through our cable operator partnerships," said Lazarus. "And we'll enrich the viewing experience by boosting the outstanding quality of play
with production and digital enhancements." "We're delighted to finalize a multi-year agreement with Turner Broadcasting," said Berke. "They are a leader in televised sports programming and have a
reputation for producing outstanding work." The first six games on the national schedule will be tape delayed in the Pacific Time zone. The Aug. 4 match between Atlanta and Washington and the Aug.
11 game between New York and Washington will also be tape delayed in the Pacific Time zone.
Freedom on HTS Washington, which has five games on the national TV schedule, announced that HTS
(Home Team Sports) would broadcast seven of its games locally. The Freedom has not yet released its local TV schedule.
