The Tampa Bay Mutiny will host Scottish Premier League leader Celtic in an international friendly match on Jan. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Tampa's Pepin-Rood Stadium. Tickets for the
contest are $20 for adults and $15 for children (19 and under). The game will mark Alfonso Mondelo's debut as Mutiny coach. The Mutiny received special permission from Major League Soccer to
train before the scheduled Feb. 1 official start date in order to prepare for the match with Celtic. The Mutiny players will begin reporting back to Tampa the first week of January and begin
training Jan. 8 at Land O' Lakes Recreational Complex. Celtic will venture to Orlando for training during a break in its 2000-01 season. Following a Jan. 2 Premier League meeting with Kilmarnock,
Celtic will break from competition for three weeks before playing in a Jan. 27 Scottish Cup match. The event marks the Mutiny's first meeting with Celtic, the first British team ever to win the
coveted European Cup (1967). Tampa Bay has participated in four other international friendlies in its history -- falling to Colombian First Division club Millonarios in July (6-2), defeating the
Puerto Rico National Team (11-0) in 1999, and producing draws with English Premier League club Leicester City (0-0) in 1997 and Dutch First Division team Feyenoord (1-1) in 1996.
