Colorado Rapids dump Myernick

The Colorado Rapids relieved Coach Glenn "Mooch" Myernick of his coaching duties, it was announced by General Manager Dan Counce Nov. 30. Myernick coached the Rapids to the playoffs in each of his four seasons with the team beginning in 1997 when he led the team to the MLS Cup. In each season following the 2-1 defeat to D.C. United in 1997, the Rapids have not made it past the first round of the playoffs. "The Colorado Rapids would like to thank Glenn Myernick for his service to the club," said Dan Counce. "However, we felt that it was time for a coaching change. In today's sports market you have to sell exciting, entertaining soccer and we felt that this decision is in keeping with that goal. ôGlenn is a good coach and a great friend and I have no doubt that he will find another team and continue his fine coaching career." Myernick had a career record of 63 wins, 61 losses, and 4 ties with the Rapids.
