The Orlando franchise of the WUSA has completed its long-anticipated move to North Carolina. It will play its first season at the University of North Carolina's Fetzer Field in Chapel Hill, N.C. The
club (which is owned by Time Warner Entertainment Advance Newhouse) was unable to locate an appropriate stadium before a Nov. 1 deadline, which required each team to have an agreement to play at a
stadium or an agreement in principle to play at a stadium. Orlando will remain on the league's list of possible expansion sites. Carolina made more changes to its roster just a day after the
club, as Orlando, selected Norway's Hege Riise and Bente Nordby with the first pick in the foreign player draft. The league has allocated U.S. Olympian and UNC graduate Carla Overbeck to Carolina,
while allocated star Michelle Akers has decided to sit out the season. Akers will undergo shoulder surgery on Nov. 1 for a long-standing injury and will take a year off to recuperate.
