Sonny Guadarrama, who has played for the U.S. under-18 and under-20 national teams, has been called into a Mexico U-20 national team camp this week in Mexico
City.
The 5-foot-7 Guadarrama, the second leading scorer in the NCAA Division I ranks as a freshman in 2005 for Campbell, left school this summer to join Mexican club Santos. Guadarrama's
older brother,
Willy, was a 2006 Soccer America Preseason All-American for the Camels. The Guadarramas hail from Cedar Park, Texas.
Mexico's
U-20s, who are scheduled to face Ecuador twice this week, are preparing for qualifying in February for the 2007 World Youth Championship in Canada. The nucleus of the U-20 team consists of players
from Mexico's 2005 U-17 world championship team.
