1. Golazos highlight Santa Clara win over Portland

The Santa Clara-Portland game lived up its billing as the Broncos edged UP, 3-2, in a back-and-forth game that featured several brilliant goals.

Michelle Enyeart gave the Pilots a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute after being fed by All-American defender Stephanie Lopez, who made a sensational run past six Santa Clara defenders.

Marian Dalmy tied the game in the 20th minute from the penalty spot, and seven minutes later Meagan Snell put SCU ahead, outrunning the Portland back line to a long ball and chipping it past Pilots keeper Cori Alexander for her 11th of the season.

Freshman Kiki Bosio extended the Broncos' lead in the second half, taking possession at midfield and making a highlight reel run through the Portland defense before beating Alexander low to the far corner.

Kendra Chandhoke's goal in the 83rd minute cut the Bronco lead to 3-2. Enyeart and Chandboke, both freshmen, have accounted for 22 goals.

"I'm proud of my team today, I thought we played well for about 80 percent of the game," said Santa Clara coach Jerry Smith, "and I thought we created some good chances there. I think it was a really well-played game by both teams."

The game drew 1,914 fans at Buck Shaw Stadium, where Santa Clara is now 10-1-1 against Portland.
