MLS: Dallas, Colorado gain preseason wins

Dallas and Colorado have both opened their exhibition schedules with victories.

Dallas defeated Viborg of the Danish Super League 2-0 over the weekend in Pensacola, Fla. Dante Washington headed home a cross from Peter Hattrup to score in the first half, and Ted Eck added the second after the intermission when he chipped the Danish keeper on a breakaway.

"Against a quality opponent, this was a great first game for our team," said Dallas coach Dave Dir. "I was very happy with our organization defensively, especially since we've only practiced together for about a week. It was good to see the team control the tempo of the game and finish it off with quality goals."

Colorado defeated Atlas Academicos of Mexico 1-0 in Guadalajara Feb, 25. Recently acquired Adrian Paz scored the match's lone goal in the 20th minute from Paul Bravo's assist.

"It was a great way to start the new year," said Colorado's Glenn Myernick, who coached his first-ever game for the Rapids. "Iwas impressed with the way the team stayed organized and played together. We had several opportunities to score and kept them away from our goal."

Colorado lineup: Hudock (Hahnemann, 46), Kmosko (Britton, 46), Trittschuh, Jakins (Bates, 46), S. Henderson (Amaya, 46), Paz (Paule, 46), Baumhoff, Bravo, Feniger (Harbor, 46), Benedetti, Wegerle.
