With the 2012 European Championship set to kick off in early June, the English Football Association has yet to name a full-time coach, yet midfielder Frank Lampard says the issuewon’t trouble the players.
“It’s something, as a player, you learn to cope with – managers leave at times you don’t expect them to,” said Lampard, who during his time at Chelsea hasseen more than a half-dozen managers come and go and has played under several managers for England.
Stuart Pearce is currently employed in a caretaker capacity. Tottenhammanager Harry Redknapp is probably the top choice among journalists and fans, but the FA has said only a replacement for Fabio Capello, who departed in February, willbe named at the end of the league season, which is just a few weeks away.
“We’ve seen that happen so many times,” says Lampard. “The important thing in this situation is that you’ve got theability in the squad and in the players. And I believe in the squad we have that. So, for me, I don’t think it makes much difference. It’ll only be us who can dictate what difference it makes byplaying well.”
