3. NCAA D2 SEMIFINALS: Cunliffe rescues Ft. Lewis

Ft. Lewis star John Cunliffe scored two goals in the last eight minutes to lift the defending champion Skyhawks to a 4-2 win over Lincoln Memorial on Thursday and move them into Saturday's NCAA Division II men's final against Dowling in Pensacola, Fla.
Cunliffe buried a penalty kick to give Fort Lewis the lead, then weaved his way across the edge of the penalty area to seal the win, netting his 30th of the season.

A pair of second-half goals by Lincoln Memorial striker Leandro Pereira had lifted the Railsplitters to lead, 2-1, with 30 minutes left. Ben Gantenbein swerved in an improbable free kick from an acute angle to tie the game 2-2 in the 72nd minute.

Dowling knocked off the hometown team, West Florida, 5-4, on penalty kicks after they played to a 3-3 tie. The Golden Lions trailed, 3-1, in the second half before evening the score on goals by leading scorers Guy-Roland Kpene and Morton Jensen (their 25th and 23rd of the season, respectively) four minutes apart.
