The U.S. Open Cup semifinal match between the MetroStars and the Dallas Burn has been moved to Sept. 2 at Baker Field on the campus of Columbia University. The match will kick off at 7:30 p.m. (ET).
The match had originally been scheduled as part of a doubleheader with the D.C. United-San Francisco Bay Seals match Sept. 3 in Stockton, Calif. "We can not ask a team to play back-to-back games,"
said U.S. Soccer Secretary General Hank Steinbrecher. "With the MetroStars playing an MLS match in Los Angeles on Sept. 4, there is no way they can play in Stockton on Sept. 3. We apologize to any of
our fans that this decision inconveniences, but playing back-to-back games in 24 hours is lunacy and we won't put our players in that position." The D.C.-San Francisco Bay match will still be
played at Stagg Memorial Stadium in Stockton on Sept. 3. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. (PT). Fans who purchased tickets to the originally scheduled doubleheader can still attend the D.C.-San Francisco
Bay match and will receive a ticket voucher from U.S. Soccer to attend the San Jose Clash-Dallas Burn MLS game at Spartan Stadium on Sept. 11. Ticket holders who choose not to attend the single match
can request a full refund from the University of Pacific box office. Tickets for the Sept. 2 Dallas-MetroStars match will be on sale at the gate at Baker Field on the night of the game.
