Sao Paulo clinched its fourth Brazilian championship with two games to spare despite having to settle for a 1-1 tie at home against Atletico Paranaense on Sunday.
Sao Paulo is eight
points ahead of second-place Internacional with two games to play after Internacional lost, 1-0, at Parana. Rains delayed the Parana-Internacional game, so Sao Paulo players and their 68,000 fans
at the Morumbi had to wait 15 minutes after their game before they could celebrate a third title in the last two years. Sao Paulo won the 2005 Libertadores Cup and 2005 Club World Championship.
It matched Corinthians, Palmeiras and Flamengo for the most other national championships with four. Its other titles came in 1977, 1986 and 1991.
