U.S. national team goalkeeper Brad Friedel has been denied a work permit to play for Liverpool of the English Premier League. Friedel's application was rejected because he had not played in 75
percent of the USA's competitive international matches in the past two years, the same reason Jovan Kirovski was denied a permit several months ago in an attempt to join Sunderland. Friedel did not
concede a goal in 225 minutes of Hexagonal qualifying Nov. 2-16 after taking over for the injured Kasey Keller.
