Blackburn's American goalkeeper Brad Friedel made a key save on Feyernoord striker Joonas Kolkka to preserve a goalless tie that sends the English Premier league club to the final 32 of the UEFA Cup.

Reuters reported that about 150 PSG fans turned on the plainsclothes policeman who was trying to help a French supporter of the Israeli team outside PSG's stadium. After trying to disperse the crowd with tear gas, the policeman shot and killed one man and injured another.

Reuters cited sources who said the PSG fans appeared to be far-right sympathizers who were chanting "France for the French" as they confronted the Hapoel supporter , and that the lone policeman was black.
