But Thursday's UEFA Cup action was marred by an incident in Paris in which a policeman shot dead a Paris St Germain fan and seriously injured another after PSG's 4-2 loss to
Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Reuters reported that about 150 PSG fans turned on the plainsclothes policeman who was trying to help a French supporter of the Israeli team outside PSG's stadium. After
trying to disperse the crowd with tear gas, the policeman shot and killed one man and injured another.
Reuters cited sources who said the PSG fans appeared to be far-right sympathizers who
were chanting "France for the French" as they confronted the Hapoel supporter , and that the lone policeman was black.
