Dallas Burn to Host CONCACAF Cup Winners Cup

The Dallas Burn will host the 1998 CONCACAF Cup Winners Cup tournament at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on March 4, 6 and 8. The six-team tournament, which will consist of three doubleheaders, will feature the Burn, defending champion Necaxa, 1997 Mexican Cup champion Cruz Azul and Olimpia of Honduras, which defeated Belen of Costa Rica last weekend. The two remaining spots will be filled by the winner of the Municipal (Guatemala) vs. Plaza Amador (Panama) match and the winner of the Platense (Honduras) vs. Jong Colombia (Curacao) match. "This is a tremendous honor to host this tournament and an extremely high level of competition," said Burn GM Billy Hicks. "Necaxa, Cruz Azul and Olimpia are some of the best, most decorated champions on this half of the planet." Burn full season ticket holders who have paid in full by Feb. 27 will receive a ticket to all three nights of the tournament for free.
