Two Doubleheaders Announced for U.S. national team

The first-ever U.S. Soccer doubleheader will be held at RFK Stadium on May 30, as the men's national team faces Scotland in its final match before World Cup '98 and the women's team meets New Zealand. "The doubleheader idea was born out of U.S. Soccer's desire to bring every facet of our family together to send the men's team off to France and on to success in this summer's World Cup," said U.S. Soccer Secretary General Hank Steinbrecher. "To have the game in our nation's capital is the ideal setting, where all of America can celebrate both teams' accomplishments." The men's match will kick-off live on ABC at 1:30 p.m. (ET), while the women's game is scheduled for an 11 a.m. kick-off live on ESPN2. Tickets for the doubleheader are currently available only to D.C. United planholders. For more information on a special World Cup send-off package, fans can contact D.C. United at (703) 478-6600. General ticket sale details will be announced at a later date.
