U.S. women's national team forward Mia Hamm will a pair of upcoming matches against New Zealand (May 30 in Washington D.C. and June 2 in Oneonta, N.Y.) due to an injured right hamstring she suffered
against Japan on May 17. Hamm, who ranks second all-time for the U.S. in appearances (148) and goals (89), is expected to be healthy for the USA's matches against European champion Germany in St.
Louis June 25 and Chicago June 28. Hamm will attend the national team doubleheader at RFK Stadium, where she and men's goalkeeper Kasey Keller will be presented with the 1997 U.S. Soccer Female and
Male Player of the Year awards at halftime of the women's match. U.S. midfielder Kristine Lilly will be honored prior to the women's match for breaking the all-time world record for international
appearances.
