U-20 Notes

Prior to the USA-Bolivia match, the USA defeated a South Florida U-20 Select Team, 10-1. USA goals were scored by Jamar Beasley (three goals), Chris Albright (two), Caleb Norkus (two), Isaias Bardales, Nick Garcia, and Matt Goldsmith. The U-20s now head to Chile, where they will face the Chilean U-20 team on July 1, Municipal FC's U-23 team on July 3 and Universidad de Catolica on July 5 in preparation for CONCACAF qualifying for the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship in Nigeria. The U.S. has been drawn into a round-robin qualifying group with Trinidad & Tobago, Canada and Costa Rica. All games will be played in Port of Spain, Trinidad, with the top two teams advancing to Nigeria. The U.S. faces Costa Rica Aug. 5, Canada Aug. 7 and Trinidad & Tobago Aug. 9. Mexico and Guatemala are among the teams in a second group (from which the top two teams qualify) that will play its qualifying games in November.
