5. OFF THE POST: Poetic inspiration tried Luton

Luton coach Mike Newell, hoping to inspire his struggling team, pinned the famous Rudyard Kipling poem "If" on the locker room wall. "But I don't think any of the players could make head or tail of it," he said. "I left it up for an hour but took it down before it got defaced."  Striker Rowan Vine said, "I didn't know what it was. I thought it might be an angry letter from a fan so I kept well away from it." But captain Steve Robinson did take a peak and said, "I certainly knew the gaffer [coach] didn't write it." Still, Luton went out and beat League Championship leader Preston, 2-0.
