4. WORLD: Tie leaves Barca three points behind Sevilla

Atletico Madrid held defending champion Barcelona to a 1-1 tie Thursday in Barcelona, leaving the defending champion three points behind league leader Sevilla going into the two-week Christmas break.

Ronaldinho put Barca in front four minutes before halftime with a goal on a free kick. Argentine teenager Sergio Aguero equalized for the visitors in the second half. Barca still has a makeup game in its favor.

CHILE. Colo Colo looked set to clinch the Torneo Clausura championship after beating Audax Italiano, 3-0, in the first leg of the final on Wednesday. Argentine-born midfielder Matias Fernandez, who will join Spanish club Villarreal in January, scored on a free kick from 40 yards. It was the 20-year-old star's 15th goal of the season. The second leg of the final will be played on Saturday.

COLOMBIA. Cucuta won its first championship for the first time after a 1-1 tie at Tolima on Wednesday in the second leg of the Torneo Clausura final gave it  2-1 victory on aggregate. MacNelly Torres scored the deciding goal for Cucuta in the 76th minute. Its coach, Jorge Luis Pinto, will take over the Colombian national team in 2007.

PORTUGAL. Benfica moved within eight points of Premier League leader Porto with a 4-0 win over Belenenses in Lisbon on Thursday. Mexican striker Kikin Fonseca notched his first Benfica goal on a header in the 53rd minute. Portuguese international Simao Sabrosa and Greeks Giorgios Karagounis and Konstantinos Katasouranis also scored for Benfica. Play in the Premier League resumes Jan. 14.
