Olympics: 28 Players Called to U-23 Team's January Camp

The U.S. men's U-23 national team will gather from Jan. 4-17 at the ARCO Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., for the first of what will be several training camps in 1999. The U-23 national team comprises the core of players that will compete for the U.S. during the CONCACAF qualifying phase for the right to participate in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. Under the direction of head coach Clive Charles, 28 players have been called into the 13-day camp, which will serve as a preliminary training camp prior to the team's international match versus Germany on Feb. 6 at Alltel Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. The 10 a.m. ET match will be the prelude to the senior U.S. national team's full-international versus Germany at 1 p.m. ET.
