College: Lindsey Wilson Rallies to win Men's NAIA Title

Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) capped a 25-0-0 season by rallying to defeat Illinois-Springfield 2-1 in the NAIA championship match at Birmingham, Ala. The Blue Raiders have now won three national titles in the past four years. Illinois-Springfield jumped out to an early lead on a 29th-minute goal by Dan Butler, but Lindsey Wilson tied the match on a penalty kick by the tournament's Outstanding Offensive Player, Tom Odhiambo, ten minutes later. The goal was the forward's 40th of the season -- a Blue Raider school record. Midfielder Orlando Bueso, who was voted Tournament MVP, scored the gamewinner in the 79th minute from Odhiambo's assist. Lindsey Wilson reached the final by scoring four second-half goals, two by Odhiambo and one by Bueso, to defeat William Carey 4-0. Butler was the hero of Illinois-Springfield's semifinal match, rolling home an 88th-minute score to lift the Prairie Stars over defending champion Seattle 1-0. Nov. 28 in Birmingham, Ala.
