U.S. Men: Australia brings youthful squad

While new U.S. coach Bruce Arena has one eye on the 2002 World Cup, Australia coach Raul Blanco has an eye on the 2000 Olympics in Australia. Following Australia's surprise loss to New Zealand in the final of the Oceania Nations' Cup that eliminated it from this winter's Confederations Cup, Blanco named an experimental team dominated by U-23 players to face the United States in San Jose Nov. 6. A few well-known players are in the squad: Defender Alex Tobin will serve as captain. Mark Viduka, the striker Glasgow Celtic just bought from Croatia Zagreb, should start up front with Damian Mori. Midfielder Josip Skoko, from Hajduk Split, is another Croatia-based player. The Australia team: Alex Tobin, Tansel Baser, Raphael Bove, Marco Bresciano, Simon Colosimo, Jason Culina, Michael Curcija, Brett Emerton, Hayden Foxe, Danny Milosevic, Damian Mori, Lucas Neill, Jason Petkovic, Sebastian Sinozic, Josip Skoko, Mark Viduka, Kasey Wehrman, Ivan Zelic.
