1. ACC stars head MLS's Generation adidas signings

Four ACC stars -- Chris Seitz and Maurice Edu from Maryland and Nico Colaluca and Bakary Soumare from Virginia -- head MLS's Generation adidas signings who should go early in Friday's MLS SuperDraft.

According to Soccer America Senior Editor Ridge Mahoney, they are among eight players signed by MLS to Generation adidas contracts. The two other collegiate underclassmen are Anthony Wallace (South Florida) and Amaechi Igwe (Santa Clara), both freshmen. More signings are possible prior to the SuperDraft, which is scheduled to begin at noon ET on Friday, but none are pending at this time.

ACC Player of the Year Charlie Davies (Boston College) signed with Swedish club Hammarby, leaving a dearth of draft options up front for MLS clubs. Davies, Seitz and Colaluca were all 2006 Soccer America MVPs.

Seitz, Wallace and Igwe are all with the U.S. U-20 national team that will begin qualifying next week for the 2007 U-20 World Cup in Canada. Several other U-20s, including Sal Zizzo of UCLA, will most likely wait until they play in the U-20 world championships in July before deciding whether - and where - to turn pro.

Other collegians with the U-20s are goalie Brian Perk (UCLA), defenders Ofori Sarkodie (Indiana) and Julian Valentin (Wake Forest) midfielders Tony Beltran (UCLA) and Jonathan Villanueva (Virginia) and forward Andre Akpan (Harvard).
