Nantes relegated in France for first time in 44 years

Despite beating Bordeaux, 1-0, Nantes was assured of being relegated from the First Division after a record 44 consecutive years in the top flight.

Nice's 1-0 win over Paris St. Germain left Nantes seven points adrift of the nearest team outside the relegation zone with two games to play. Sedan was also relegated.

Nantes' victory courtesy of Kenyan Dennis Oliech's goal dropped Bordeaux to fourth place, behind Lens on goal difference, in the battle for the two UEFA Champions League spots to go along with champion Lyon's berth.

Marseille moved into second place by beating Nancy, 2-1, on goals by Mamadou Niang and Djibril Cisse. OM will look to win its first trophy in 14 years when it plays Sochaux in the French Cup final on Saturday.

5. Sochaux 54 pts. (43-43)
