Atlante leaves Mexico City for Cancun

Mexican First Division club Atlante is leaving Mexico City for the Caribbean resort of Cancun.

The move was announced by the government of the state of Quintana Roo, in which Cancun is situated, and the Grupo Pegasus, which owns the club.

Atlante drew poorly in recent years at Azteca Stadium that it shared with the more popular Club America, which is now Azteca's sole tenant. Necaxa moved from Mexico City to Aguascalientes in 2003.

Mexico City's other clubs are UNAM and Cruz Azul, which have their own stadiums.
